Menomin Safari Tent

Cuyuna Cove Safari Tents offer a comfortable and memorable camping experience in the heart of Cuyuna Country with direct access to your favorite red dirt adventures (photos coming Spring 2021).

Upon pulling into our driveway, gather your belongings in one of our off-road wagons and follow the trail through the woods to your camp site. Step up on your deck, unzip your tent, unload your luggage and head out on your Cuyuna adventure…or, simply kick up your feet and enjoy a cold one around your bonfire.

The Menomin Safari tent has 1 queen bed and sleeps up to 2 adults.  You’ll have your own fire pit, luggage racks, organic coffee beans, white noise machine, wine opener and more. A vintage LED lantern will also be provided to help light the outdoor path on your way to the indoor/outdoor communal showers and bathrooms.

Please note: Our Safari tents are NOT pet friendly. If you wish to bring your pet, please book one of our cabins. Your tent will have plugins for a fan or to charge your phone and other electronics (we recommend turning them off if you can!) There is no AC in the tents, we do provide a fan. WiFi may reach the tent sites, however the signal may not be as strong as in the cabins.

Our Address:

22642 N Hwy 6

Crosby, MN 56441

When is Check in and Check out?

Check-in is between 4pm and 9pm

Check-Out is by 11am.

What is the cancellation Policy?

Cancellation Policy:

All cancellations/modifications are subject to a $50.00 cancellation/modification fee. In the event your travel plans change and you are unable to stay with us, cancellations/modifications must be made no later than 4PM exactly 14 days before your reservation is scheduled to begin in order to guarantee a refund. If your reservation is canceled/modified within 14 days of your reservation you will forfeit the total cost of your booking. Finally, there is no refund if the guest decides to cancel after check-in.  Please send your cancellation request via email to: hello@cuyunacove.com

Where is the nearest lake/swimming beach?

We have an incredible location within minutes to over 15 mine lakes in Cuyuna State Recreation Area as well as Serpent Lake in Crosby (which has a public beach and an incredible playground).  Huntington Mine Lake also has a beach/picnic tables and bathrooms nearby. We have a ‘Things to Do’ Guide we wrote in every cabin to help point you in the right direction for paddling, biking, swimming, snowshoeing, skiing, etc. When you book, we will also send you link to view the guide so you can plan some things before you get here.

Do you allow pets?

We allow 1 behaved dog per cabin booking. Dogs are not allowed in the tents due to the walls being made of canvas and noise being an issue.  If you do want to bring your dog and book a cabin, please read the updated stricter Pet Policy before deciding to being your dog. We do charge for any damages and also charge an automatic $200 cleaning fee if your dog is allowed on the bed (it is nearly impossible to get fur out of a Pendleton Wool blanket). We only allow well-behaved dogs to accompany their owners with a pet fee of $75.00 per stay, 1 dog maximum with a 50lb maximum weight. Guests who bring their dog must read our Dog Policy before checking into Cuyuna Cove. Dogs must be on the reservation in order to accompany you and on a 6 ft leash at all times on the property. Cuyuna Cove reserves the right to ask you to leave without a refund if your dog is barking or disruptive to other guests. If you are unsure if your dog will be able to abide by these rules, we kindly ask you leave them behind.

How are you cleaning to help manage Covid-19?

We have a 4pm check in time in order to allow more time to deep clean between guests. We follow strict CDC Hotel Cleaning Guidelines. Please Google these guidelines for more detailed information.

Can I bring 2 kids and 2 adults in a cabin?

Unfortunately, no. Our tiny cabins are only 215 square feet and our max occupancy is for 3 people only. Most safari tents sleep 2 adults and some will have the option for 4 ppl.

I see there is Wi-Fi, how is the strength if I work remotely from a cabin at Cuyuna Cove?

We have a 50 mb line that is consistent at 36 mb . So if you’re doing a large video conference it has the potential to suffer but overall we’ve had many people working remotely from the cabins and it seems to be just fine for regular work. Upload speed is around 15mb. If you’re in a safari tent, the WiFi signal may be weaker than if you’re staying in a cabin.

There is also an incredible coffee shop up the road (Red Raven) you could even walk to from the cabins/tents if you want to switch up your work environment.
I’m searching for specific dates on the calendar and either NO cabins are showing up for my search, or only a few are. Does this mean the ones not showing up are unavailable?
Yes, that is correct. We have a 2 night minimum and if you don’t see any cabins show up for those dates, that does mean we are booked up.
What is the parking situation like? Can I bring my boat?
We built Cuyuna Cove in the forest and our goal was to leave as many trees as possible and not to clear cut a large parking opening. We have room for 1 vehicle per booking and unfortunately we do not have space for boat or trailer parking at this time.
I did not get my Confirmation Email with my check-in information, what do I do?
First, check your spam folder. The confirmation email can easily go to this folder. The email will be sent the day you book. If you still cannot find it, sometimes we find guests enter their email wrong in their bookings. Simply send us an email or text message asking for us to resend for you. You will need this email for check in.
Will the cabins be open in the Winter?
Yes, our cabins will be year round with AC and Heat in every cabin. Tents will open from late Spring until Fall. No AC/heat with tents but you will have electricity.
I have bikes and kayaks, is there storage?
We have built a bike storage unit for EVERY cabin. You can fit 3 full size bikes easily and lock them up. Please bring your own lock/key as we have had guests taking our locks we provide. We will no longer be replacing them. Kayaks can be stored on your vehicle, or on your walkway up to your cabin, or next to your bike rack. Tents will have a place inside to set your bike(s).

When are Quiet Hours enforced?

Quiet hours are from 10 PM to 8 AM. Amplified sound or music is not permitted. If you have a concern during business hours, please text your concern to 218-389-4087. If you have a noise complaint after the 10PM quiet hours, please call the local Crosby Police at 218-546-5137. If you have an emergency, please call 911.

What should I bring if I’m staying in a glamping tent?

Bring a cooler full of your favorite camping drinks and food. You will have electricity to plug in and charge your phones. We provide one towel per guest, so please bring your own beach towels. We provide linens, pillows, comforters and basic grilling utensils. We also provide coffee, a coffee maker, wine key, matches, bottle opener and a lantern to navigate to the bathrooms at night. Shampoo and conditioner are provided in the showers. Toilet paper is provided in the bathrooms. We recommend bringing your own plates, silverware, etc. Bring extra camping blankets for out by the fire along with DNR approved firewood, bug spray, games, cards and anything else you might want on a camping trip!

What should I bring if I’m staying in a cabin?

Bring your favorite food to grill, wine, beer, etc. We provide full bedding, 1 bath towel per guest, hand towels, coffee, french press, wine key, bottle opener, mini fridge, microwave, basic kitchen utensils (pot, pan, cups, bowls, coffee mugs, etc), shampoo/conditioner/body wash.  We also provide noise machines for deep sleep and bike storage. There is an LED lantern in each cabin you can use to walk down the trails to the fire pits. Please pack beach towels if you plan to explore the beautiful mine lakes. We recommend leaving your favorite light colored clothes at home, the red dirt here will stain them.  Plan on packing bug spray, sunscreen, games, cards and anything else you might want on a camping trip!
